- Playa El Velero – A very beautiful beach about 35 kms. from Leon which was formerly the private property of the family of the dictator Somoza. It offers hills and some mountainous precipices as well as a variety of flora and fauna to observe.
- Ruinas de Leon Viejo – The historic colonial capital of the region which was buried in molten lava in the 16th century by an eruption of Volc�n Momotombo which also can be viewed from there, as well as Lago Xolotl�n.
- El Realejo – This was the principal port of Colonial America with an interesting history and it still has much significance as a port in the departamento of Chinandega, 40 kms. to the north of Leon.
- El Viejo – This is a pueblo located to the east of the northern city of Chinandega, very close to the majestic Volc�n San Crist�bal. Her church is considered a national treasure along with the image of the Virgin Mary housed within.
- Laguna de Asososca – An impressive volcanic crater lake located within the Maribios chain of mountains 45 kms. from Leon, with crystaline waters excellent for bathing and fishing.
- Rural Chinandega – Located about 45 kms. to the northwest of Leon along the pacific coast, there are manyintersting and attactive places to visit, like el Ingenio San Antonio where sugar is processed from sugarcane and the national rum of Nicaragua, Flor de Ca�a, is produced.
- Isla Juan Venado – Includes a boat ride to this nature reserve island where you can view close up various species of native flora and wild animals in their native habitat and also bathe in the crystal clear waters.
- National Port of Corinto – A trip to one of the most important commercial ports in Nicaragua, located in the department of Chinandega, where ships from all over the world loan and unload their cargo. Includes a visit to nearby beaches for bathing and relaxing.
- Mina el Lim�n – A trip the North of Nicaragua to see how they mine gold, and to observe the social and working conditions of the people there.
- Volc�n Momotombo – Located about 10 kms. from the port of the same name, this volcano has an almost perfectly shaped naked rock cone. Climbing her is not for the frail of body or mind but the effort is fully compensated by one of the most magnificent 180 degree panoramic views seen from any vantage point in the country.
- Matagalpa – Visit to this cooler mountainous city in the north central area of the county whose primary occupation is coffee growing and cattle raising for export. Includes a visit to a coffee plantation to see how the people live and work there. $20-$30
- Selva Negra – Located 120 kms. from Leon on the carretera Matagalpa-Jinotega, this tranquilly charming resort offers a refreshing climate, a spectacular view of the mountainous surroundings and an opportunity to view local flora and fauna and commune with nature and other like minded national and international visitors.
Estel� – Another city in the north with a fresh agreeable climate. There you can appreciate this hard working and revolutionary minded people as well as attactive sites such as el Salto de Estanzuela (waterfall), and you will have an opportunity to learn how they process tobacco which is one of the principal crops of the area.
- Volc�n Cosig�ina – Primary volcano of the Pacific chain in Nicaragua. Here you will have the opportunity to scale her without much difficulty in order to appreciate the beautiful lagoon in the profundity of her crater, as well as the delta del R�o Estero Real with an incredible natural landscape.
- Los Farallones del Cosig�ina – Extraordinarily impressive ridge of cliffs of great hight surrounded by an attractive landscape and in view of Volc�n Cosig�ina.
